Migrate your mail

Goal

Since you will now be checking your mail with our systems, you may want to import your existing mail from your previous host.  There are several methods to do this and we will go through them here.  In most cases you will need to have your existing host export your mail content to a PST file so that it can be easy imported in our system.  If you have a regular POP account with just an inbox then the migration will be very easy.

Access your panel

First log in to your Control Panel at http://manage.myhosting.com and select your subscription from the drop-down list on the upper right.

Once you are logged in, you can click on the black Exchange Extras tab up top. It will show you additional options available for exchange; click the Mail & Sync Settings icon.

You will see a list of addresses that you can do the migration on. If you do not see such a list, ensure you have the right subscription selected on the upper right, or add an address first.

All you need to do is click on the link for the address you want to migrate mail for, simply choose Import Outlook PST File.

There are two methods that you can use to import your PST. If you have a small PST (under 50MB), you can use the upload script provided on that page.

Or you can use an FTP program to upload a large PST for you.

If you use FTP, you must use the FTP credentials provided on that page in order to upload to the correct location.

When you finish the upload either by FTP or the on page script you must come back to the PST import page to queue the PST for import.

In the example above, you would put a check in the PST file and click Request Import. This is the required final step to perform the import.

Conclusion

Once the migration is complete, you will be able to check your mail at http://ex7.myhosting.com and ensure that the messages were imported correctly.  The import is not instant, and may take some time depending on the size of the PST as well the overall import queue of the system. Simply repeat the process for the number of mailboxes you wish to migrate, and you will be done.
